    Ingredients Needed

    • Sweet Potatoes: You can peel them or scrub them well and keep the peel on! Cut them into small matchsticks.
    • Cornstarch: Cornstarch will help release some moisture and the potatoes will get super crispy!
    • Olive Oil: I like to use olive oil to coat my sweet potatoes before roasting them. You can also use a nonstick spray or avocado oil.
    • Salt & Pepper: To taste!
    • Garlic Powder: Garlic powder adds a little bit extra flavor and aroma.
    • Paprika: For a little kick and depth of flavor!
    • Spicy Ketchup: To make a homemade spicy ketchup, you can just cook together ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, chili powder, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and sriracha! These ingredients make a perfectly savory, spicy, and tangy ketchup to pair with these sweet potato fries.

    • I like to keep the skin on my sweet potato fries, but you can definitely peel them before cutting them if you prefer! I like to cut my potatoes about a 1/4 inch thick for best results.

    Serving Suggestions

Sweet potato fries are a great snack to have on their own with spicy ketchup or ranch. But they are also a wonderful side dish that can go with so many different meals! Sometimes, the perfect meal is sweet potato fries and a salad, am I right? Here are some of my favorite things to pair with oven baked sweet potato fries:

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make my sweet potato fries crunchy in the oven?

Sweet potato fries are harder to get crispier in the oven than regular potatoes. First, you want to cut your fries into pretty thin pieces, about 1/4 inch in thickness. The thicker the fries, the less crispy they will become!
To keep them crispy, I like to place them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Make sure not to overcrowd them or else they will steam and not crisp up!
It is important to add the cornstarch in this recipe, too. This will do the trick to really crisp up the fries in the oven!

Do I need to soak the sweet potatoes fries before cooking them?

Some people soak their potatoes before cooking them to extract the starch and increase the crispiness. This typically works better for regular potatoes which are higher in starch. It is not necessary to soak sweet potatoes prior to baking them, since they don’t have as much starch! And in general, the less moisture the better.

Can I store sweet potato fries in the refrigerator?

If you have any leftover sweet potato fries, you can store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container or zip lock bag for 3-5 days. When you are ready to reheat, place on a baking sheet and warm up the fries in a 425 degree oven for 10 minutes or until crispy! Or, you can pop these in an air fryer or toaster oven to make sure they stay crispy!
