Honey Jalapeno Dressing

This Honey Jalapeno Dressing is sweet, creamy, and spicy! Not to mention it can be made in less than 5 minutes!

Honey Jalapeno Dressing

There is a local taco and burrito shop by my house that serves a  rich, creamy, honey jalapeno dressing alongside their salads and tacos. The dressing was amazing and I wanted to recreate it at home.

I knew I needed the sweet and the spicy combo (honey and jalapeno), but what gave the dressing a creamy consistency? I tried milk, buttermilk, and found that sour cream gave the dressing a thicker consistency than the milk. I added fresh cilantro, lime, and garlic to accentuate the spicy jalapeno. I ended up with a flavorful and creamy salad dressing.

The sour cream gives the dressing a nice tang while the honey sweetens up the spicy jalapeno.

Now when I say this dressing is spicy I mean it. It’s spicy! You first taste the cool creamy sour cream and then the heat of the jalapeno sneaks up on you. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and spicy.

Jalapeno Lime Dressing

This Honey Jalapeno Dressing is very simple to make. Toss all of the ingredients together in a blender (or food processor), pulse for 30-60 seconds and your done! How simple is that?

This dressing makes a total of 2 cups. If you have dressing left over toss it with rice or use it as a dipping sauce for grilled chicken.

In the time it would take you to pick up salad dressing at the super market you could have this dressing ready. Enjoy!

  • Hi Megan,

You could try adding some mayo or maybe greek yogurt to thicken it up more.

How close is this to the original inspiration? I found your site when i was looking for a sauce similar to ED’s honey jalapeno dressing!

  • Hi David,

This recipe is an inspiration of off El Diablo! I loved this sauce and would always make it at home. It’s as close as I could get to their sauce. I hope you enjoy!

    Thank you!

Sweet Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Do yourself a gigantic favor, and make this dressing. Then put it on a salad comprised of fajita chicken strips, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and a sprinkle of sharp cheddar cheese. Top with a handful of tortilla strips. You’re welcome.

Damn close to the best salad I’ve ever eaten in my LIFE, and I’m a 50 year old foodie.

THIS DRESSING IS THE BOMB DIGGETTY. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the original poster.
