Eggnog French Toast Casserole
This Eggnog French Toast Casserole is the ultimate holiday breakfast! Made with French bread, eggnog, and a buttery cinnamon streusel, it’s a delicious way to bring the flavors of the holidays to your table. Plus, it’s make-ahead friendly, making it perfect for Christmas morning!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 pan with nonstick cooking spray, set aside. In a large bowl combine bread, eggs, eggnog, cinnamon and vanilla. Toss to fully coat the bread in the custard.
Transfer to the prepared pan then prepare the streusel.
Make streusel: In a medium bowl combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. The mixture so resemble wet sand.
Sprinkle the streusel on top of the casserole. Bake: for 30-35 minutes or until the casserole looks set, no longer jiggly and golden brown on top.
Allow it to cool for 15 minutes then slice, serve and enjoy with maple syrup!
Notes
Use Day-Old Bread: Just like with my Eggnog French Toast Bites thicker sturdy bread works best! Slightly stale French bread absorbs the eggnog mixture better, creating a rich and custardy texture. If your bread is fresh, cube it and let it sit out for a few hours or lightly toast it in the oven.Prep Ahead: If you're making this casserole for Christmas morning, assemble it the night before, cover it tightly, and store it in the fridge. This allows the bread to soak up all that eggnog goodness, and it makes it easier to get breakfast on the table in the morning!
