Clocking in at under an hour for prep and cook time, this French Onion Chicken recipe is sure to be a family favorite!

Heat butter and 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add in onions and cook for 10-15 minutes stirring every 5 mins. Add in the marsala and scrape the bottom of the pan. Transfer onions to a plate.

Add the chicken on a cutting board and season on both sides with Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat to the same pan the onions were cooked in. Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Set the chicken aside on a plate.

Add the onions to the pan and stir in flour. Cook for 1 minute stirring constantly. Whisk in the beef broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until thickened.

Preheat oven broiler to high. Add the chicken back to the pan and top each chicken breast with a slice cheese. Place in the oven and broil until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve immediately with fresh chopped parsley for garnish. Pair it with a side of brown rice, mashed potatoes, a side salad, or roasted veggies.
