Slow Cooker Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
1tbspolive oil
16ouncessausage, I used hot sausage
1largeonion, diced
5clovesgarlic, minced
16 ounce can tomato paste
114.5 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes
228 ounce cans crushed tomatoes
1/2tspcrushed red pepper flakes
2sprigsfresh oregano
2wholebay leaves
1/2tspItalian seasoning
1/2tspsalt
1/2tsppepper
fresh basil for serving, if desired
fresh parmesan cheese for serving, if desired
Instructions
Heat olive oil a large skillet over high heat.Add sausage and onions and cook until browned. (It does not need to be cooked through, just browned on the outside for extra flavor. You can skip this step if you do not have time.)Add in garlic and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
Add browned sausage, along with the rest of the ingredients to a slow cooker.
Cook sauce on low for 8 hours.Serve over pasta with basil and parmesan cheese for serving, if desired.
