This Baked Apple Crisp is stuffed with a oat filling and topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce.
01
Preheat oven to 400F. Cut the apples in half and using a paring knife carefully remove the core. Make a hole in the center of the apple to make room for the crumb.
02
Drizzle the cut side of the apples with lemon juice. Then brush them with the tablespoon of melted butter and granulated sugar and cinnamon.
03
Add 6 tablespoons of butter to a small saucepan. Cook on medium high heat for 5 minutes or so or until the butter starts to turn a light caramel color.
04
To a large bowl add the browned butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and salt. Stir to combine until the mixture gets crumbly.
05
Fill each apple cavity with the crumb mixture. Place in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crumb filling is golden brown and crisp.
Serve immediately with whipped cream, caramel sauce or ice cream!
