Ingredients Needed
- Lemons & Oranges: I used a combination of lemon and oranges here. You can use any citrus that you have on hand, but the flavor combination of lemon and oranges is bright and refreshing and packed with vitamin C!
- Ginger: Fresh ginger is key here! It is going to make these wellness shots slightly spicy, but it is totally worth it.
- Turmeric: Add some turmeric for added flavor and anti-inflammatory properties. I typically don’t have fresh turmeric on hand so I used dried turmeric however use fresh if you can find it!
- Pepper: Black pepper will help you to absorb the turmeric!
- Olive Oil: A little bit of fat from the olive oil will also help you to absorb all the nutrients in this drink.
How to Make Wellness Glow Shots
- Combine Ingredients: Add all of the ingredients to a high powered blender. If using organic lemons and oranges, feel free to add them whole. Otherwise, juice the lemons and oranges.
- Blend: Blend starting on low and then work your way up to high. Blend for 30-60 seconds.
- Strain: If desired, run the mixture through a sieve. Otherwise, portion into small jars.
- Store & Enjoy: Store in the fridge for up to one week and enjoy one a day!
Tips for Success
- Use Fresh Ingredients: The quality of your ingredients impacts the nutritional value of your wellness glow shots. Always use fresh, organic produce when possible, as they contain higher levels of vitamins and antioxidants. If you use fresh lemons and oranges you don’t have to squeeze them either! Throw them in whole for added fiber!
- Balance the Flavors: These can sometimes have intense flavors due to the concentration of ingredients. To balance the taste, adding a bit of honey or maple syrup can help sweeten the shot naturally. Since it is a small amount of liquid to drink though, I recommend trying it out as the recipe indicates and see if you can get used to the flavor with time.
- Start Small: If you’re new to these shots, start with smaller quantities and gradually increase your intake. This will help your body adjust to the concentrated nutrients.
