The Best 2 Ingredient Bagels Recipe
Unlike traditional bagel recipes, these 2 ingredient bagels require no yeast or rising time! If you are craving bagels, you can have freshly baked bagels in about 30 minutes. The best part? You only need 2 ingredients! Technically, I used four ingredients here but that is only because I added an egg wash and everything bagel seasoning on top for some added flavor.
These bagels are a blank canvas, perfect for adding your favorite toppings or making them into sandwiches or pizza bagels for later!
INgredients Needed
- Flour: Flour forms the structure of the bagel. You can use all-purpose flour or a gluten-free all-purpose flour if you prefer.
- Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt gives the dough its moisture and elasticity. Be sure to use full-fat yogurt for the best texture.
- Optional: To top them off, you can add an egg wash and a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning for added flavor!
How to make 2 Ingredient Bagels
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the Ingredients: Add flour and greek yogurt to a large bowl. Mix to combine (I typically use my hands) to form a shaggy dough. Continue to knead with your hands until it forms into a ball.
- Knead: Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for another 2-3 minutes.
- Rest & Divide: Allow the dough to rest for 5-10 minutes. Divide the dough into 8 pieces then roll each piece into a ball. Let the balls rest for 10 minutes.
- Shape into Bagels: Poke a hole in the center of each ball using your fingers then stretch the dough to create a bagel shape.
- Add Egg Wash & Everything Seasoning: Transfer the bagels to the prepared baking sheet. Brush on the egg wash then top with everything seasoning or any other desired seasonings or cheese.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they start to get golden brown.
- Cook & Enjoy: Allow them to cool for 15-20 minutes before slicing and enjoying!
Tips for Success
- Use full-fat Greek yogurt! For the best flavor, I recommend using full-fat Greek yogurt. Since these bagels only have 2 ingredients, this will add enough moisture and flavor to the dough!
- Knead the dough! The dough will be quite shaggy at first, but keep kneading until it forms into a smooth dough. Then, let it rest before forming into a ball and bagel shape! If you don’t let it rest, it would want to be manipulated and will not stay in the bagel shape.
- Be generous with your seasoning! The egg wash helps the toppings stick, so don’t hold back on adding your favorite flavors like sesame seeds or granulated garlic!
