The Best Sheet Pan Sausage & Veggies Recipe

This easy sheet pan recipe features chicken sausage and roasted vegetables, resulting in a hearty and satisfying meal! The seasoning here adds the perfect amount of depth and flavor without being overpowering, and then everything is baked until crispy.

My favorite thing about sheet pan meals is the simplicity. Everything is cooked on a single sheet pan, so you get a flavor-packed meal without any of the hassle!

You can serve these roasted veggies and sausage on their own since it includes sweet potato as a carb. However, for a more filling meal simply serve it with some rice or mashed potatoes on the side!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Chicken Sausage: Chicken sausage is a healthier alternative to regular sausage, but still has a delicious, savory flavor!
    • Sweet Potatoes: The sweet potatoes add a nice contrast to the savory sausage. Plus, they are packed with fiber to keep you fuller for longer!
    • Red Bell Pepper: Red peppers bring a pop of color and a slight sweetness to the dish.
    • Broccoli: Roasting the broccoli here enhances the flavor and makes it nice and tender. You can replace with cauliflower if preferred!
    • Onion: Onion perfectly complements the sausage and veggies and adds some extra flavor! Using large diced pieces allows them to caramelize nicely without burning.
    • Olive Oil: To caramelize all of the vegetables and keep them moist.
    • Seasonings: I like to season everything to perfection with a combination of garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper! These seasonings enhance the flavor of the veggies and sausage without overwhelming them. For a bit of a kick, add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes to the mix!

    Tips for Success

    • Cut vegetables evenly! For even cooking, it is best if all of the veggies are prepped and cut into even sized pieces!
    • Flip halfway through. Toss the sausage and veggies halfway through baking to ensure even browning on all sides.
    • Customize the veggies! You can customize the veggies in this sheet pan sausage and veggies depending on your preference and what you have on hand. Try zucchini, carrots or even Brussels sprouts here!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of sausage?

Yes! While chicken sausage is a lighter option, you can substitute it with pork sausage, turkey sausage, or even plant-based sausage. Additionally, smoked sausage like kielbasa would be delicious here! Just adjust the cooking time if necessary, especially for raw sausages that may need longer to cook.

How do I store leftover sheet pan sausage and veggies?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days! Reheat in the oven or on the stove top for the best texture, or in the microwave for ease.
