before you get started
- I recommend using regular, full fat cream cheese in this recipe. The light cream cheese will be too thin and not as delicious!
- Don’t skip the chilling! It is important to chill the Oreo & cream cheese mixture before dipping it into the chocolate. If you don’t chill, they will be more likely to fall apart and get crumbs into the melted chocolate.
- For easy dipping: Use two forks to roll the truffle around in the melted chocolate, remove with the forks and let the truffle set on parchment paper.
- Don’t melt the chocolate too quickly. Chocolate is temperamental and can easily burn. You will want to only microwave in intervals and stir often in order to ensure that it doesn’t get burnt!
- For a more festive Oreo truffle, try topping them with sprinkles for different holiday themes!

Ingredients Needed
My easy Oreo truffles with cream cheese require few ingredients that are pantry staples! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Oreo cookies: One package of regular Oreo cookies will do the trick here!
- Cream Cheese: Make sure to let your cream cheese come to room temperature before using it, so that the truffle mixture is cohesive.
- Chocolate Chips: I used half white chocolate and half dark chocolate chocolate chips for dipping the truffles to create the outer candy shell.
- Coconut Oil: I add coconut oil to the melted chocolates to help form a shell on the outside. You can use melted better or any other type of oil if you’re not a fan of coconut oil!
How to Make Oreo Truffles
- Make the Oreo Filling: Add the Oreos to a food processor and crumble, (If you do not have a food processor you can place them in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin or mallet.) Reserve 1/4 cup cookie crumbs for topping the truffles.
- Then, add the cookie crumbs to a large bowl along with the cream cheese. Mix with a spatula until combined. (This takes some elbow grease and a couple of minutes to combine.)
- Shape & Let Set: Shape into about 30 balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the refrigerator for an hour to set.
- Make Chocolate Ganache Shell: Add chocolate to a microwave safe bowl along with the coconut oil. Microwave in 15 second intervals and stir often until the chocolate is fully melted.
- Assemble: Take the balls out of the fridge and dip one at a time into the melted chocolate.
- Then, place back onto the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with cookie crumbs for a nice decoration, if desired.
- Refrigerate & Enjoy: Place back in the refrigerator for 1 hour to firm up. Once set, serve and enjoy!
