Before You Get Started
- Use fresh herbs. Fresh basil, parsley, and chives are key for giving this dressing its vibrant flavor. I strongly recommend avoiding dried herbs because they won’t give it the same punch!
- Chill for best flavor. While the dressing is delicious right away, letting it sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes helps the flavors stand out even more.
- Adjust the consistency. If you want a thinner dressing for drizzling, add an extra splash of milk, buttermilk, or water until it reaches your desired consistency.
Ingredients
- Sour Cream – Makes a creamy, tangy base for the dressing.
- Mayonnaise – Adds richness and a smooth texture.
- Fresh Herbs – Are key for green goddess dressing! They add so much flavor! I typically use whatever I have in my garden! I used a combination of chives, basil and parsley!
- Garlic – Infuses the dressing with a hint of savory with just one clove.
- Lemon Juice – Adds brightness and some acidity to help cut through the richness of the dressing.
How to Make Green Goddess Dressing
- Pulse ingredients: Add all of the ingredients to a food processor blender. Pulse for 30-60 seconds or until the dressing is smooth and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Dressing can be served immediately or refrigerated for at least 30 minutes for better flavor. Serve with salad or veggies for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight jar for up to 1 week in the fridge.
Serving Ideas
- As a salad dressing – Drizzle it over mixed greens, chopped salads, or grain bowls. This would be delicious on my Mexican Salmon Salad or my Cucumber Avocado Salad!
- Veggie dip – Use it as a dip for veggies like carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, or snap peas.
- Sandwich spread – Use it in place of mayo on sandwiches or wraps like my Cottage Cheese Flatbread.
- Buddha bowls – Spoon it over rice or quinoa bowls with roasted veggies and grilled protein. Try it on my BBQ Salmon Bowls or Chicken Burrito Bowls.
- Meats or seafood – Serve it alongside Grilled Chicken, steak, or shrimp as a flavorful sauce.
- Baked potatoes – Use it in place of sour cream for a zesty upgrade.
