Before You Get Started
- Use fresh herbs. I love using fresh herbs in this dressing as they add a fresh, vibrant flavor that really makes this dressing stand out!
- Adjust the consistency. Add more or less milk to the dressing depending on how thick or thin you like your ranch.
- Let it chill. While it’s delicious if you use it right away, I think the flavor gets even better after you let the dressing sit in the fridge for a few hours.
Ingredients
- Mayonnaise – The creamy base of the dressing! It adds richness and gives the ranch that irresistibly smooth texture.
- Sour cream – Balances out the mayo with a mild, tangy flavor.
- Milk – Helps to thin the dressing out to make it drizzleable.
- White wine vinegar – Adds tang. It’s the secret to that classic ranch zing!
- Fresh dill – Gives the ranch its signature flavor!
- Fresh chives – Adds a mild onion flavor and a pop of green.
- Onion powder – Deepens the savory flavor and boosts that classic ranch taste.
- Garlic powder – Adds warmth and a subtle garlicky kick.
- Salt and pepper – Enhances all of the flavors in the dressing.
How to Make Ranch Dressing
- Add mayonnaise, sour cream, milk, vinegar, herbs, and seasonings to a bowl.
- Whisk to combine. Serve immediately, or transfer to mason jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Serving Ideas
- Toss it with roasted veggies – Drizzle ranch over warm Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli, or Roasted Garlic Brussels Sprouts for extra flavor.
- Use it as a salad dressing – This one’s obvious, but it’s so good! This ranch pairs well with everything from simple garden salads to a hearty Chicken Cobb Salad.
- Add it to pasta salad – Stir ranch into pasta salad for a creamy, tangy twist. It would be super tasty in my Bow Tie Pasta Salad!
- Spread it on wraps or burgers – Use ranch as a flavorful alternative to mayo on sandwiches (like my California Grilled Cheese), wraps, or burgers.
- Mix it into mashed potatoes – A spoonful or two adds flavor and creaminess to Mashed Potatoes.
- Use it in baked casseroles – Stir ranch into cheesy chicken (like my King Ranch Chicken) or potato casseroles (like my Loaded Mashed Potatoes) to add creaminess and extra flavor.
