The Best Mango Avocado Salsa Recipe

This easy mango avocado salsa recipe has the perfect harmony of flavors and textures! The juicy, ripe mango brings a natural sweetness that complements the creamy, butter avocado. Red onion adds a crunchy bite and cilantro brings a lovely freshness!

With just 6 ingredients, you can create this light and vibrant salsa that works well as an appetizer, topping, or even a side salad!

    INgredients Needed

    • Mango: Choose a ripe mango that is just slightly soft when pressed! This will ensure that it is juicy, sweet mango.
    • Avocado: You will also need a ripe, slightly soft avocado!
    • Red Onion: Dice the red onion into small pieces. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can use a shallot instead.
    • Cilantro: Cilantro is key in adding a bright, herbaceous flavor. If you are not a fan of cilantro, you can use parsley instead. However, it will result in a different flavor!
    • Lime: Lime brightens up the flavors and helps to keep the avocado from browning! Fresh squeezed lime juice is best, but you can use bottled if you are in a pinch.
    • Salt & Pepper: Season with salt and cracked black pepper to taste!

    Recipe Variations

    • Make it spicy! Add in some spice by adding diced fresh jalapeño peppers or serrano peppers. The more you add, the spicier it’ll be!
    • For a heartier version, you can feel free to add in a can of rinsed black beans and sweet corn! Fresh corn will taste best, but fresh or frozen and thawed would work as well.
    • For a more traditional salsa, add in some diced fresh tomatoes as well!

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does mango avocado salsa last?

This salsa is best enjoyed the day it’s made due to the avocado’s tendency to brown. If you do have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 days. The avocado will turn a little brown, but it is still good to eat!

What is the best way to slice a mango?

To perfectly slice a mango, start by cutting down from the top on both sides of the large seed in the middle. Keep the skin on, and gently score vertical lines through the mango flesh, being careful not to cut through the skin. Then, make horizontal cuts to create a grid of squares. Once the mango is diced, use a large spoon to scoop the flesh out from the skin. I like to make them small pieces so I can easily scoop them up with a tortilla chip!
