Before You Get Started
- Blend until smooth. Blend up the cottage cheese, sour cream, buffalo sauce, and seasonings long enough to get rid of any lumps for an ultra creamy dip.
- Broil at the end. A quick 1–2 minutes under the broiler makes the topping golden and bubbly!
- Serve it hot or cold. This dip is best enjoyed warm right out of the oven however my husband and I were eating leftovers cold on salads or straight out of the container!
Ingredients
- Cottage Cheese – The secret to a creamy, protein-packed base without the heaviness of cream cheese. The cottage cheese adds so much protein! You would never know this was made with cottage cheese instead of cream cheese.
- Buffalo Sauce – Brings that signature tangy heat that makes this dip absolutely irresistible. Add more or less depending on how spicy you would like it! My 5 year old was able to eat the dip so it wasn’t overly spicy.
- Seasonings – Garlic powder, onion powder and dried dill are added.
- Shredded Chicken – Adds heartiness and soaks up the spicy, creamy sauce. You can use rotisserie chicken in a pinch! The fastest way to shred up chicken is my instant pot shredded chicken method! You can even cook it from frozen in the instant pot.
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Melted over the top of the dip for a flavorful ooey, gooey topping!
- For Serving – Blue cheese crumbles, extra buffalo sauce, and green onions are added before serving. You could even do a drizzle of homemade ranch dressing on top.
How to Make Cottage Cheese Buffalo Chicken Dip
- Add the Base Ingredients to a Blender: the cottage cheese, seasonings, buffalo sauce and sour cream to a blender or food processor.
- Pulse Until Smooth: Pulse for 30-60 seconds or until the mixture is smooth, creamy and lump free.
- Toss in the cooked chicken breast.
- Transfer the Chicken Mixture to the prepared pan and top with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the dip looks bubbly. I like to broil mine after for 1-2 minutes to brown the cheese a bit more.
- Serve with chips, veggies, crackers, or bread for dipping! Enjoy!
