When I say this sauce is easy to make, I mean it is seriously so simple. My eazy tzatziki sauce will take only 10 minutes to whip up! Tzatziki Sauce Ingredients
- Whole Milk Yogurt: Avoid low fat or non fat options for this sauce in order to get the best flavor! Greek yogurt works well since it is a little bit thicker, so the sauce won’t be too runny!
- Cucumbers: English cucumbers are good here because the skin is thinner and there is no need to peel or remove the seeds. However, any cucumbers you have on hand will work amazingly!
- Garlic: Freshly minced garlic adds a nice savory and aromatic flavor.
- Fresh Lemon Juice: Fresh lemon juice is important to brighten up the flavors and add an acidic bite. For the best flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice and not the bottled stuff!
- Dill: I really like fresh dill in my sauce, but dried dill will also lend the herby flavor that you need.
- Salt & Pepper: A bit of salt and pepper to taste will round everything out!
- Olive Oil: Drizzle with a bit of high quality olive oil at the end.
How to Make Homemade Tzatziki Sauce
- Mix Ingredients: Add the yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, lemon juice and dill to a medium bowl. Whisk to combine and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Serve immediately with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil on top. You can also refrigerate the sauce for up to 4 days in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat! The flavors will develop the longer it sits.
Tips for Success
- Finely chop the cucumbers or grate them! You want the cucumbers to be pretty small here so you get the flavor but not huge bites in the tzatziki sauce. You can either finely chop them or even grate them if you prefer!
- For even more flavor, let the sauce chill in the fridge for 2 hours before serving. The flavors will develop and meld better if they are chilled for a little bit! For that reason, this is a great sauce to make ahead of time!
